My 2 daughters are dancers.
Well, I should re-phrase that. My eldest daughter is a dancer, this is her here – isn’t she gorgeous?
My youngest daughter also dances and does cheerleading – she’s pretty darn gorgeous too, though I am biased!
Later this year, both my girls, along with 25 other girls aged between 5 and 24 years, have the opportunity to travel to the USA to dance at Disneyland and Universal Studios.
I’ll make this very clear. This is not a vacation. These girls are going to do something very specific and that is DANCE. They hit the ground running and will dance at Universal, outside Madame Tassaud’s in Hollywood, and at Disneyland. They’ll do dance workshops at industry leading studios, and with Disney. All up, they’ll have 8 days in California.
This is a very expensive trip, but as you can imagine for them, it’s the trip of a lifetime. We’ve been searching for ways to fundraise for them which involves the broader community’s involvement, not just the other parents at the studio (something that’s really hard to do).
Eventually Desley suggested that we go back to basics and we do what we know best – we will run an Op Shop Tour. And instead of the profits going to any of the causes that we usually support, the money will go to the dance troupe.
If you’d like to join us we are proposing one of the only two Saturdays that I have available between now and then fitting in with all their other dancing commitments, and we will go with majority rules. It will either be Saturday 14th of May or Saturday 21st of May.
We will probably run this one a little differently in that we may also have some raffles during the trip too. If you or anyone you know might be interested in coming along for a fun day of Op Shopping, knowing you’re helping out a great group of young kids, please get in touch with us!
Of course, if you’d like to just make a donation too, you’re more than welcome to do that.
